Changes to my study programme
Hello everyone, in this post i'm going to talk about some changes that i think that could be to my study programme. Before starting, I have to say that I'm currently studying architecture at the University of Chile, and also I'm in my third semester on the carreer. So I might be missing some things that need to be change about the carreer.
Anyway, one of the things that I would change is the workload, which is probably the first thing you notice when you start studying architecture. Sometimes it gets to a point in which you are at the very limit in terms of time that you have sacrifice some activities, like sleeping or even having a meal, in order to finish the project. Even there're times were you have more that one assigment which have deadlines close to each other and you don't have much time left, so you have to sacrifice one of them and focus on the other. Unfortunately, finding a good solution for the current workload is going to be difficult, since the subjects have a very limited time to go through all the contents during the semester, and also, extending the duration of the carreer wouldn't be a likeable option since it would complicated to properly organize the courses in order to avoid an overload in workload, and also it would meant spending more time in the carreer.
Other thing that I would change is the usage of previous contents in future subjects. It's a matter of fact that you end up using all the knowedge that you adquire during the carreer, but it might take a while before you encounter a subject were you can actually apply said knowedge. At least for now, it feels like every subject is an isolated thing from one to another. So it would be nice to be able to use what you've learnt in a subject from next semester or at maximum next year, so you don't have to go over all the previous content because you forgot it .
I also think the academic burden is difficult to manage :(

ReplyDeleteHello Jose, I think that mental health is very important for all people and the workload that exists is horrible and inhumane in many occasions, but I hope that will change in the future
